Neighborhood Farmers Markets Make You Feel Right at Home

Neighborhood Farmers Markets Make You Feel Right at Home

One of the things we love the most about living in the Nashville area is easy to access to big city amenities, but it doesn’t take long to get out of the city and have miles and miles of rolling green hills stretched out in front of you. Many of these lush hillsides are home to farms growing fruits and vegetables that we are fortunate enough to enjoy daily right now. How lucky are we!

We like to pick up our produce at one of the many fun farmer's markets in the area. It’s such a great way to get a feel for the personality of the community and get some delicious food at the same time. We highly recommend checking out your neighborhood market, or if you are thinking about buying or selling a home in Davidson County or one of these neighborhoods you are interested in, check out their market and see what you think! Here are five we recommend:

1. The 12 South Farmers Market at Sevier Park - (Neighborhood: Belmont-Hillsboro/12S) (Tuesdays 4-7)

Parking here isn’t easy and Tuesday afternoons might be busy for you, but if you can make it to this farmers market, you’ll see why this is one of the coolest neighborhoods in town. Sevier Park is packed with local residents, food trucks, and market stands selling everything from peaches to popsicles. Oh, and of course, there is live music to enjoy while you peruse the produce. This is Nashville!

2. Richland Park Farmers’ Market - (Neighborhood: Sylvan Park/The Nations/Sylvan Heights) (Saturday 9-12)

Richland Park Farmers Market is one of the longest-running neighborhood farmer markets in Nashville. We love the easy parking along Charlotte Pike and the wide open spaces for the kids to run while we shop.

3. Hip Donelson Farmers Market - (Neighborhood Donelson of course! /East Nashville) (Fridays 4-7)

The name says it all, right? This hip market is for the hip Donelson area, full of young families and local goods. From soaps to strawberries, this market is extra fun and creative thanks to all the neighborhood folks who show up, catch up, and shop!

4. Nashville Farmers’ Market - (Neighborhood: Germantown) (Daily 8-4)

We would be remiss not to mention the main Farmers Market located off Rosa Parks in the Germantown neighborhood. Open 362 days a year, this open-air market is home to more than 150 farms, artisans, and small businesses during the peak growing season.

5. Franklin Farmers Market at The Factory - (Neighborhood: Franklin/Thompson’s Station/Brentwood) (Saturdays 9-12)

This is The Farmers Market for the Williamson County area. Held at the Factory in Franklin, it offers bountiful produce, meats, cheeses, and baked goods, as well as local crafts and other items sure to please.

We hope you’ll find time to explore all of the season’s harvest at each neighborhood market. We’d love to hear what you find, report back to us!
